DRUG PRESCRIBING PATTERN OF VARIOUS ANTIFUNGAL DRUGS FOR DERMATOPHYTOSIS IN A TERTIARY HEALTHCARE AND TEACHING HOSPITAL

Objective: To analyze the pattern of drug prescription and rationality pharmacotherapy used in dermatophytosis. Methods: A prospective observational study was conducted from January 2021 to June 2022 Department Skin Venereal Diseases. Prescriptions included all newly diagnosed patients with cutaneous fungal infections both genders who attended Dermatology OPD. Factors considered were sociodemographic parameters, clinical manifestations, combination monotherapy along prescribed topical systemic agents, details prescribing indicators. Results: total 362 dermatophytosis cases observed, which 230 males 132 females. Patients age group 13-40 y (65.47%) have shown dominance infection a high prevalence among student category, accounts for 177. Tinea corporis (40.85%) prominent manifestation infection. Among single most commonly is Clotrimazole (15.19%), combinations, sertaconazole ketoconazole (29.28%). Itraconazole (48.75%) oral formulation, followed by itraconazole terbinafine (22.56%). While imidazoles maximally antifungals according therapeutic class. Conclusion: majority prescriptions three agents mainly sertaconazole, ketoconazole.
